Fully Accredited & Certified Installers

Octopus Trusted Partner, Bromley & South London

Air Source Heat Pump Installation in Bromley, Octopus Energy Approved

Supreme Heating holds Octopus Trusted Partner status, meaning Octopus Energy has assessed our installation quality, system design process and customer service standards and approved us to install heat pumps for their customers across Bromley, Orpington and South London.

As an MCS certified, BUS approved installer, we manage everything. We carry out the home heating survey, design the system based on heat loss calculations, handle your £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant application and commission the completed installation. You get a single point of contact from the first phone call to the final test.

This is not a lead generation service. When you call us, you speak to a heating engineer, not a call centre. The engineer who designs your system is the engineer who installs it. That is the difference between an Octopus Trusted Partner and an aggregator referring your enquiry to the lowest-cost available installer.

OCTOPUS ENERGY PARTNER NETWORK

What Is an Octopus Trusted Partner Installer?

Octopus Energy created the Trusted Partner network to address a real problem in the heat pump market: too many poorly designed installations that underperform, cost more to run than expected and leave homeowners disappointed with renewable heating.

A Trusted Partner is a local installer that has been assessed and approved by Octopus Energy for installation quality, correct system design process and ongoing customer support. It is not a badge you buy. It is a status you maintain by meeting Octopus Energy’s standards on every installation.

WHY SWITCH TO A HEAT PUMP

Air Source Heat Pumps — What They Do and Why Bromley Homeowners Are Installing Them

A heat pump extracts heat from outside air and delivers it into your home. Instead of burning gas, it moves heat. That distinction matters for efficiency, for running costs and for what your home heating will look like in ten years.

3–4× More Efficient Than Gas

A well-designed heat pump delivers 3 to 4 units of heat energy for every 1 unit of electricity — a COP of 3–4. A gas boiler, even at 92% efficiency, delivers less than 1 unit of useful heat per unit of gas burned.

Lower Carbon Emissions

Heat pumps produce zero direct carbon emissions at point of use. As the UK electricity grid decarbonises — and it is doing so at pace — a heat pump installed today becomes cleaner every year without any changes to the system.

Smart Tariff Integration

Paired with Octopus Energy’s Cosy Octopus tariff, your heat pump runs primarily on cheaper off-peak electricity. This is one of the most meaningful ways to reduce running costs — and it is only available through Octopus Energy smart tariffs.

Full Heating and Hot Water

A properly designed air source heat pump replaces your gas boiler entirely — providing space heating through radiators or underfloor heating, and hot water through a dedicated cylinder. No hybrid required in most well-insulated properties.

£7,500 Government Grant

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides £7,500 toward air source heat pump installation. As an MCS certified, BUS approved Octopus Trusted Partner installer, we apply for the grant on your behalf and deduct it directly from your invoice.

Future-Proofed Heating

UK policy is moving decisively toward low-carbon heating. Gas boiler bans for new-build properties are already in force. Installing a heat pump now, with the grant in place, positions your property ahead of regulatory and market shifts.

THE INSTALLATION PROCESS

How an Octopus Heat Pump Installation Works — From First Call to Final Commission

Every heat pump installation we carry out follows the same disciplined process — because a heat pump that is not designed correctly will underperform for its entire service life. There are no shortcuts that do not cost you later.

1

Initial Assessment

Home Heating Survey & Heat Loss Calculations

Our engineer visits your property and carries out a full heat loss assessment to BS EN 12831 — the recognised standard for heating system design. We measure room dimensions, assess insulation levels, check window specifications and evaluate your existing heating distribution system. This survey determines the correct heat pump output for your property. We do not skip this step.

2

System Design

Heat Pump System Design — Radiator Sizing, Flow Temperature & Hot Water

Based on the heat loss survey, we design the complete system — specifying the correct heat pump model and output, calculating required flow temperatures, assessing radiator adequacy and specifying the hot water cylinder. Lower flow temperatures mean higher efficiency. A well-designed system runs at 35–45°C flow temperature — not the 70°C+ typical of gas boilers.

3

Grant & Quotation

BUS Grant Application & Written Quotation

We submit your Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant application — managing the documentation required and ensuring compliance with scheme rules. We provide a full written quotation showing the total system cost, the £7,500 grant deduction and the net amount payable. That figure is your invoice. There are no additions after the survey.

4

Installation

Professional Heat Pump Installation

Our engineers install the heat pump outdoor unit, indoor components, hot water cylinder and all associated pipework, controls and electrical connections. Installations typically take two to three days depending on system complexity and whether radiator upgrades are required. We work cleanly and leave the site tidy on completion.

5

Commissioning

System Commissioning, Testing & MCS Certification

The completed installation is fully commissioned — flow temperatures set, controls calibrated, system pressurised and tested under load. MCS certification is issued on satisfactory completion. We walk you through the controls, explain how to operate the system efficiently and provide guidance on Octopus Energy smart tariff integration, including Cosy Octopus, to optimise your running costs from day one.

A heat pump that is correctly designed and commissioned will deliver COP 3–4 consistently. One that is not may deliver COP 1.5–2 — barely better than direct electric heating. The survey stage is where that difference is made.

PROPERTY SUITABILITY

Is Your Bromley Property Suitable for an Octopus Heat Pump?

Most Bromley properties are suitable for a heat pump — but suitability depends on specific factors that cannot be assessed without a survey. Here is what we evaluate:

🏠

Insulation Levels

Loft insulation and cavity wall fill have the biggest impact on heat loss. Properties that are not insulated to a reasonable standard will require more heat pump output. We assess this during the survey and advise on improvements where warranted.

📈

Heat Loss Calculations

The heat loss figure for your property — calculated to BS EN 12831 — determines the heat pump output required. This is the most important number in system design. We calculate it for every property we survey.

🧱

Radiator System Compatibility

Heat pumps deliver heat at lower flow temperatures than gas boilers. Existing radiators sized for 70°C+ boiler output may need to be upgraded to larger models that work efficiently at 45–55°C heat pump flow temperatures.

Electrical Supply

Heat pumps require a dedicated electrical supply. Most UK properties have sufficient capacity, but we verify electrical provision during the survey and identify if any upgrades to the consumer unit are needed.

📍

Outdoor Unit Location

The outdoor unit requires space, airflow clearance and a suitable mounting position. We assess the most appropriate location during the site visit — considering noise, aesthetics, planning considerations and manufacturer siting requirements.

WHY CHOOSE SUPREME HEATING

Why Bromley Homeowners Choose Supreme as Their Octopus Heat Pump Installer

Octopus Trusted Partner status is the starting point — not the selling point. Here is what sits above it.

Octopus Trusted Partner — Properly Earned

Octopus Trusted Partner status requires meeting installation quality, system design and customer service standards set by Octopus Energy — not just signing up. Our status reflects the quality of installations we carry out, not a badge purchased through a partnership agreement.

Heat Loss Calculations — Every Property, Every Time

We carry out BS EN 12831 heat loss calculations for every property we survey. This is the only way to correctly specify a heat pump. An undersized system will struggle in cold weather. An oversized system will short-cycle and underperform. We get the size right — and we can show you the calculation.

BUS Grant Managed End-to-End

We handle the entire Boiler Upgrade Scheme application — eligibility check, documentation, submission and confirmation. Applications that fail or are delayed are almost always documentation or eligibility issues. Working with an experienced MCS certified installer eliminates most of these risks before submission.

Genuinely Local — 20+ Years in Bromley

We are based in Petts Wood and have installed heating systems across Bromley homes for over 20 years. We understand the local building stock — the typical heat loss characteristics of semi-detached 1930s properties, the insulation challenges of Victorian terraces, the opportunities in new-build estates across the borough.

Written Quotation — Survey First, Always

We do not provide heat pump quotes over the phone. System cost depends on property heat loss, radiator adequacy and installation complexity — none of which can be assessed remotely. We survey first. We quote after. That figure is the invoice. No scope creep, no additions, no surprises.

Cosy Octopus & Smart Tariff Setup

We configure every heat pump installation to work optimally with Octopus Energy smart tariffs from day one — including Cosy Octopus, which provides cheaper off-peak electricity periods specifically for heat pump customers. Running cost optimisation is part of our commissioning process, not an afterthought.

VERIFIED FEEDBACK

What Bromley Homeowners Say About Our Octopus Heat Pump Installations

Verified feedback from homeowners across the Bromley BR postcode area who switched to heat pump heating with Supreme.

★★★★★

“We switched from gas to a Vaillant heat pump through Supreme — Octopus Trusted Partner installation. The difference from other quotes we received was that Supreme actually did a proper heat loss survey before specifying anything. The other companies quoted over the phone. Supreme’s engineer came out, measured everything and explained exactly why they were recommending the size they did. The BUS grant was handled entirely by them. Net cost was significantly below what we expected.”

Google Review

★★★★★

“Samsung heat pump installed last autumn. Supreme flagged during the survey that two of our radiators were undersized for heat pump flow temperatures and included the upgrade in the quote — rather than installing and leaving us to discover the problem later. The Cosy Octopus tariff setup was done at commissioning. Running costs in the first winter were exactly in line with what they estimated during the survey.”

Checkatrade

★★★★★

“Daikin Altherma installed in our Orpington detached — replacing a 20-year-old gas boiler. The survey took about two hours and was thorough. Written quotation with the £7,500 grant deduction clearly shown. Installation was three days, commissioning on day four. MCS certificate and Octopus registration sorted by Supreme. We have been running on Cosy Octopus since installation and the bills have been predictable and lower than gas.”

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Octopus Heat Pump FAQs — Bromley Homeowners Ask

Direct answers to the questions we are most frequently asked about Octopus Energy heat pump installations in Bromley.

How much does an Octopus heat pump installation cost in Bromley?

The total cost depends on property size, heat loss calculations, the heat pump model selected and whether radiator upgrades are needed. Before the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, air source heat pump installations typically range from £7,000 to £13,000. With the £7,500 BUS grant applied, eligible homeowners pay from around £0 to £5,500+ depending on the final system cost. We provide a full written quotation showing grant deduction separately after the free heating survey.

What is an Octopus Trusted Partner installer?

An Octopus Trusted Partner is a local heating installer approved by Octopus Energy for heat pump installation quality, system design competency and customer service. Trusted Partners are MCS certified, authorised to apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant and can integrate installations with Octopus smart tariffs including Cosy Octopus. Supreme Heating holds Octopus Trusted Partner status in Bromley and South London.

Can I get the £7,500 BUS grant through an Octopus installer?

Yes. As an MCS certified, BUS approved Octopus Trusted Partner, Supreme Heating processes your Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant application on your behalf. The £7,500 is deducted directly from your installation invoice — you never handle the money and you do not repay it. We manage the full documentation process from eligibility check to grant confirmation.

Does Octopus Energy offer a special tariff for heat pump owners?

Yes. Octopus Energy’s Cosy Octopus tariff provides cheaper electricity during specific off-peak periods, designed for heat pump customers. Running your heat pump primarily during cheaper tariff windows can significantly reduce heating bills compared to a standard electricity tariff. We configure smart controls integration as part of our commissioning process so you benefit from the Cosy Octopus tariff from day one.

Can a heat pump replace my gas boiler completely?

Yes — when correctly designed and installed, an air source heat pump provides all space heating and hot water previously provided by your gas boiler. The critical factor is correct system design — heat loss calculations, radiator adequacy assessment and correct flow temperature specification. A poorly designed heat pump installation may not replace a boiler satisfactorily. A well-designed one will, and with lower running costs.

Are heat pumps suitable for older Bromley homes?

Many older properties in Bromley are suitable, but suitability depends on insulation levels, heat loss figures and radiator system size. Some older homes require radiator upgrades or insulation improvements before a heat pump will perform efficiently. We carry out a full heating survey — including heat loss calculations to BS EN 12831 — before recommending any system. If your property is not yet suitable, we will tell you and advise on the steps that would make it suitable.

Do heat pumps work in cold UK winters?

Yes. Modern air source heat pumps from Vaillant, Samsung and Daikin maintain effective performance at temperatures as low as −15°C to −25°C outside temperature. The UK climate is significantly milder than Scandinavia and Northern Europe, where heat pumps have been the dominant home heating technology for many years. A correctly sized heat pump performs reliably in UK winter conditions.

What areas do you cover for Octopus heat pump installation?

We carry out Octopus Trusted Partner heat pump installations across Bromley (BR1), Shortlands (BR2), Beckenham (BR3), West Wickham (BR4), Petts Wood (BR5), Orpington (BR6), Chislehurst (BR7) and Swanley (BR8), plus surrounding South London areas.
